Apple’s iMessage, like so many other instant messaging solutions, sends read receipts to those who have sent you messages. The idea is that everyone can see when their messages have been read by the receiving party which should mean you no longer have to wonder whether your message was received or not. It’s a great feature, but it can have its problems.
As some people have found out, having read receipts go to the person who just sent you a message means that a clock was just started, ticking along until you reply. If you take too long, the person waiting for that reply might get annoyed, and we’ve all been sat waiting for a message that never comes – it’s irritating at the best of times, but when you know for sure your original message has been read, it’s maddening.
iPhone Messages main
If you’re jailbroken though, a tweak called SafeTexting might be able to help you out. Once installed in exchange for $1.00, the tweak will stop read receipts being sent out until you actually reply to the message. That means that until you’re ready to respond, the person who sent you the original message will never know that it was read. Where this differs from simply turning read receipts off in the iMessage settings is that the read receipt will be sent along with the next reply, giving the illusion that you are replying as soon as you read the original message. Sly, indeed.
safetexting1
While that may not be the greatest feature around though, SafeTexting also allows users to turn off the bubble (typing indicator) that appears when someone is typing inside iMessage. As a user with SafeTexting installed, you will still be able to see when incoming messages feature someone who is typing, but the other half of the conversation will have no idea when you are typing. If you like the idea of seeing when someone is typing but don’t want them to be able to see when it’s the other way around, then a dollar might not be too much to pay.
SafeTexting can be installed via the BigBoss repo in Cydia. Extra features are said to be on their way to the tweak too, though we’re not quite sure what they will be or when they will arrive.
If you haven’t jailbroken yet, you can find the instructions on how to jailbreak iOS 8.4 here:

Every week, Apple features an impressive app as its ‘App of the Week’ which is made available for free for seven days before it returns to its original price. The time has arrived again and this week’s app happens to be one with some of the best 3D photo effects you’ll ever come across on your iOS device, and if you wish to save on the $1.99 price tag that it usually carries, now is the time.
Developed by Pixite, Matter made its debut on the iOS App Store back in July 2014 and this is the first time that it has been made available for free.  Matter is a photo effects app that allows users to add realistic 3D effects to any of their photos with real-time shadows and reflections. The 3D objects range from simple geometric shapes to complex architectural structures. Additionally, you can create video loops of objects spinning and hovering and save them to your iOS device. With just a few taps of a button, you can easily and quickly share your creations across the web.
Available on app store free main
With Pixite’s incredible editor, you can add realistic 3D objects to your photos and videos, adjust everything from reflections to shadows in real-time, and then share them across the Internet. With a swath of impressive objects to place, a variety of sample backgrounds to test out, and the ability to animate your 3D models, Matter will make your photos and videos extraordinary.
Matter
You can get started by choosing any image from your device and editing it. The app is bundled with 4 object packs that are available for free, each containing a bunch of different shapes. More packs are also available in the store, which can be purchased for a few bucks or downloaded for free of charge.
Once an object is added to the screen, you can rotate it with your fingers and zoom in and out by pinching. To move them around, you’ll have to use two fingers instead. The style of the objects can also be adjusted as well as their shadow.

The app comes with free background images as well that are made available by the community in the “Free for All” section. Using these images, you can freely edit them, experiment with the app’s features and share your creations.
If you haven’t tried Matter yet, I highly recommend that you grab it from the iOS App Store while it’s free. It normally costs $1.99.

Goat Simulator is easily one of the most popular gaming title in the iOS kingdom, and usually retails for $4.99 on the App Store. Well, it still does, but IGN has partnered up with the game’s developer, Coffee Stain, to offer the title for absolutely free as part of a IGN’s ‘Free Game of the Month’ initiative. We help you get the game up and running on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch without spending a dime, right here.
If you haven’t played Goat Simulator before, don’t let the ‘simulator’ bit confuse you; it is anything but that. You’ll simply be taking control of a clue-less goat and cause all kinds of destruction around the town. If you’re wondering why that’s the objective, it was either that, or walking your goat around a farm.

Parallels Access app for iOS has just been updated to version 3.0, bringing with it a bunch of improvements, most notably the experimental support for playing PC games on your iPhone or iPad, support for the Apple Watch, and file sharing for both Android and iOS devices.
Parallels Access has been holding a prominent position in the world of remote access tools, starting by bridging the gap between the OS X and Windows platforms, followed by the evolution to mobile platforms. The latest version of the app is taking it up a notch by introducing the ability to remotely play your favorite PC games on iOS devices, but of course the iPad in particular will make more sense than an iPhone. To help make the experience more enjoyable, Access will let you create your own custom touch-based controls but do bear in mind that the feature is experimental in nature, so don’t be surprised if you come across a glitch or two.

Next up on the ‘major changes’ list, is the support for the Apple Watch, which adds the ability to start remote connections right from your wrist, so the next time you want to streamline the whole ‘connecting’ process, you can give your Apple Watch a tap.
Parallels-Access-Apple-Watch
Too much going iOS way? Android gets its fair share of improvements as well, but are shared by iOS as well. Both platforms are getting a universal file manager complete with file sharing abilities as well. Both local storage and cloud-based storage are supported but what really takes the cake here, is the support for sharing large files between a PC and iOS or Android device. Using the desktop view you can also browse through your mobile photos if these photos have been backed up to your desktop while you’re on the go.

Parallels Access app does come at a cost, but there’s a 14-day trial run available as well. Given the brilliant features that it puts on the table, the annual $19.99 subscription fee does not seem like much. For those looking for the long haul, Parallels will be giving you a discount of sort for a $35 subscription fee, which will be valid for up to 2 years.

Last year, when RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile hit the App Store, we all got very giddy at the prospect of being able to play the classic game on our iPhones and iPads. Unfortunately, that excitement all turned rather bitter once it became clear that the game was nothing more than a vehicle for yet another round of in-app purchases thanks to the free-to-play model that has taken over mobile gaming. Many sad faces were seen.
Thankfully, there’s some good news because RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 has now arrived on that very same App Store, bringing with it none of that in-app purchase nonsense and instead of being free to play, costs a reasonable $4.99. Rejoice, for someone out there may actually be listening.

As a look at screenshots of the game will show, the game features absolutely no gimmicky in-app purchases to get in the way of the fun, and the game itself is essentially a real, touch-based port of the original RollerCoaster Tycoon game from late 1990s that we all know and love, packed with all 18 scenarios that were in the PC version. Most importantly, though, it’s a game that does away with the idea of micro-transactions and instead, has the self-belief to charge a reasonable price up front. $5 doesn’t make RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 the cheapest game on the App Store, but it does strike us as a more-than-fair price for a game that could well take hours of your life away.

If you’re the kind of person that likes to take to social media to rage against the scourge of in-app purchases in games, then now is the time to stump up the cash to prove to developers that we, as gamers and app buyers, are willing to pay for great games. If we don’t, the free-to-play model with IAP will continue to take over the App Store.

After grabbing the headlines earlier this week for undergoing a major company restructure Google is back again. The world’s largest search engine, which now falls under the Alphabet umbrella, has updated its Google app for iOS for the first time in two months. Version 7.0 introduces an additional layer of power around voice search and integration, as well as enhancing the results displayed when searching locally. The free-of-charge upgrade should be visible right now for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch owners via the App Store.
The first of the new notable features comes in the form of an improvement to the “Ok Google” search capabilities within a specific web page. Users of the app are now able to ask very specific questions while browsing any web page to get detailed answers about whatever topic they are reading about. So, as an example, if a user is reading an article about Niagara Falls they are able to say “Ok Google, how far away is this location from me?”. Google would then provide an immediate detailed answer in response to that question.

Secondly, the update brings with it more detailed local search results that provides additional context on the results such as additional information about business opening hours, pricing of products if available and granular location details if relevant to the search. Google has also introduced a smaller, but still notable feature, that allows users of the app to copy and paste from anywhere within the application. The latest edition of the official Google search app still includes all of the powerful, easy-to-use features that have made it a popular installation with iOS users over the years.

Users are still able to talk instead of type, and get an audible response from the application. Google can also help users do things more effectively and remember things that need to be done, such as“remind me to call my mum at 8pm”, or by asking for local amenities and restaurants close to the users current location. The update requires users to be running iOS 7.0 or later on an iPhone 4s or higher and is available as a free download right now.
